Greed and Jesus: Republicans Just Don’t Get It
Cognitive dissonance is a person’s brain trying to decipher two contradicting realities. An example of this is often seen an abusive relationship. Where the man/woman obviously understands there’s abuse from their significant other, yet they love them anyway.
Often their brain will then develop excuses for such action. It’s their fault or the other person has just been under a lot of stress. The reality is their brain simply cannot accept two different realities that contradict, so it creates another.
This is never more prevalent than when it comes to Republicans and Christianity. The benchmark for which their entire political party is based yet they push policies that contradicts much of what Jesus taught.
Their entire economic policy states we need to give more to those that have in order for the rest of us to enjoy the windfall of their generosity through increases in revenue.
Let that sink in for a second.
An economic policy based upon this notion: “If we feed greed more it will then benefit the rest of society.” When has greed ever benefited a society?
So what does the Bible say about greed:
“He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.” (Ecclesiastes 5:10) It becomes a driving obsession to acquire still more. Once the acquiring has happened, then comes the need to protect what has been acquired. This is selfishness and it is sin. (Ecclesiastes 4:8)
Once the greed-driven have acquired and protected, they begin to covet. They are not satisfied with all they have; their eye is on all that they don’t have. (Luke 12:15) This coveting begets more greed, the greed begets more selfishness, and the selfishness begets more coveting and so on to madness. “The sleep of a laboring man is sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep.” (Ecclesiastes 5:12) By this point, there is no room left in for God. Money is now the master of the house. (Matthew 6:24)”
Seems pretty straight forward. Greed is perpetual. The more one has often the more they want. Isn’t that what we’ve seen in the last 30 years? Isn’t this what Trickle Down Economics has given us?
In the last 30 years the Top 1-5% has grown exponentially, never more so than in the last decade. Yet what has it brought us? Economic failure.
A group of millionaires crying out they need even more. Many of the same businesses that proved in the 90′s, with higher taxes, they could yield historic growth are now fighting a return to those very same tax levels. They now claim economic prosperity isn’t obtainable at those “job destroying” levels of taxation.
The fact is, they’re right. Their economic prosperity cannot be sustained at a higher level of taxation. The more we fed into this myth of Trickle Down Economics, the more lower taxes benefited them, the more they expect to expand their greedy nature. To raise their taxes would mean their giant profits would probably be taken down to just, well big profits.
This isn’t about these businesses making profits, they can easily do that, but they want larger profits. What they had in the 90′s is no longer good enough, they want more.
Of course it’s impossible to return to the very same tax rates that brought us the best economic growth in our history, because then their greed would have to return to a lower level, and as the Bible says, greed is perpetual and never ends. We gave them more and now their solution to fix our problems? You guessed it, they want even more!
Isn’t that exactly what the Bible warns will happen? Did we not have wealthy Americans in the 50′s, 60′s and 70′s?
The answer is yes, they just weren’t as wealthy. Trickle Down Economics was the catalyst for the acceptance of greed. It gave those with the most more and any mention of taking it back is met with a horrific depictions of economic Armageddon.
Does it make any sense? Why would we face economic disaster by returning to tax rates that had no problem making millions of Americans a lot of money?
The answer is simple, greed.
We’ve gave them access to reach levels of unheard wealth. We’ve allowed them to see year to year profit as insufficient; they want larger profits. Success for next year is based on beating the success of last. As the Bible says, it is perpetual…it’s never ending.
How does this make any sense? Jesus warned that money is the root of all evil. The Bible stats that greed leads to madness. Yet here we sit with one of the two most powerful political parties, in the strongest nation on earth, supporting an idea that we need to support greed or else face economic destruction.
And there you have it, cognitive dissonance. The reality is exactly what the Bible said would happen did happen. Yet their political ideology completely contradicts the realities we’ve seen and the Bible supports. They preach Christian values at the same time they advocate a policy that says giving into greed will benefit our society. The human brain simply can’t handle two conflicting realities, so it creates one of its own.
The more we allowed the wealthy to have, the more they asked us to give. We did this at the detriment of our economy. If Trickle Down Economics works, shouldn’t their success and our success mirror one another? As they gain, we gain. However, that isn’t what happened. The more they’ve gained, the more they wanted, and the more they took it from everyone else.
Think of a small 12 foot fishing boat. If weight is equally dispersed it’ll stay buoyant and afloat. But what if the weight shifts more forward or backwards, what happens? The boat becomes unstable. Now imagine if suddenly all the weight is shifted forward, what would happen? Simple…the boat will suffer suddenly instability, capsize then sink. As our nations’ wealth rushed to the Top 5% in the last decade, that’s exactly what happened, our boat capsized then sank.
Does this contradiction between faith and politically ideology suggest they believe Jesus supported greed? Seems like it. So far they believe him to have been a man who would have judged homosexuals, condemned women, and considered the poor as lazy people seeking a handout. So why not perpetuate the belief that he would have supported greed? Don’t let scripture in the Bible sway your views, it’s much easier to simply allow yourself to give into and concoct a delusional reality.
What Republicans have done is a complete distortion of the Christian faith. Their version if Jesus doesn’t even fit into the very nature of what he lived and died for.
Every economic stance they support benefits the wealthy. How does it make any sense to have a party that pushes themselves as the Christian majority, the party of values and decency, yet their entire economic stance contradicts what the Bible and Jesus says about the greed of man.
What Republicans claim to follow isn’t Christianity, and it sure isn’t Jesus. Christianity is a faith that states:
“For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required”
Meaning those who have the means to make a difference, should, and should do so unselfishly.
Yet, to a Republican this is essentially socialism. It’s unfair.
But isn’t Christianity about giving, loving, and helping those who cannot help themselves?
These are the principles I live by as a Christian.
But I’m a Democrat. You know the party that lacks faith. Lacks morals. Envies the rich. You know all of that rhetoric the “good” Christian Republicans tell people we are, yet none of it is true.
Yet there they sit, a walking contradiction. A party who supports faith in God above anything and policies that favor greed over everything.
The Jesus I worship is a man who we should all strive to become. A man who didn’t judge. Who stood for those who couldn’t stand for themselves. Who never felt slighted or that life was unfair. Who was wary of people who spoke of God on their lips but lacked true faith in their hearts. A man who embraced everyone, even those who disagreed with him. A man who personified everything mankind should be.
Republicans well, who knows what man they worship. If the policies they support are reflective of the faith they follow it sure isn’t Christianity and that man sure wasn’t Jesus.

Well said, it has long amazed me. It goes beyond the politicians themselves. All like sheep… imagine the “moral majority” saying it doesn’t matter under what circumstances Newt cheated on his wives, in NC they strongly endorsed him. Talk about cognitive dissonance!
Wow are you on my head? My thoughts exactly..I really think that GREED is going to destroy us…..the human race..
de·stroy [dih-stroi]
verb (used with object)
1.
to reduce (an object) to useless fragments, a useless form, or remains, as by rending, burning, or dissolving; injure beyond repair or renewal; demolish; ruin; annihilate.
2.
to put an end to; extinguish.
3.
to kill; slay.
4.
to render ineffective or useless; nullify; neutralize; invalidate.
5.
to defeat completely.
The Democratic Party is the Apex of Greed. Look at the President pulls off a ponzi scheme for his wealthy banker friends and union bosses running us into 15 trillion debt that our great great great great great grand kids will never dig out of because of interest. Nancy Pelosi had to have a new jet airplane to get her from Washington D.C. to California every weekend when she was done so she could be HOME costing the American Tax Payer million/billions in cost. Harry Reid is doing everything he can to get lawsuits filed against States (Arizona) and others to cost Tax Payers Millions of Dollars in Tax revenue for attorneys and court cost. Plz….come up with something better on the Republicans who have tired to fix unemployment, the economy and stop this run away spending that Obama and his jack booted thugs have been putting on the American Public.
Nice try but wrong. Most of the 15 trillion debt is because of the Bush initiated tax cut for the wealthy, and his two illegal wars of aggression he started.
Unemployment, which was at a constant increase for the last three years of Bush has been in decline since Obama took office. The stagnation of the economy has been because the Republican majority in the House blocks every attempt to fix it, while the near parity in the Senate prevents the Democratic majority from being able to get bills passed. The GOP has become the Party Of NO while campaigning on a platform of anti-gay, anti-woman hatred and bigotry.
If we can get the GOP OUT of the House and Senate, things in this country can get better, Till then we have to suffer through more and more stupidity from the likes of Rick Santorum trying to establish Christian Sharia in America.
It is no accident that the GOP appeals to religion. Religion is based on beliefs, and beliefs trumps facts when it come to religion. The GOP has been so successful in this “we are the party of god” message because of the underlying problem, low information voters easily manipulated by emotional appeals constructed in a well-developed marketing campaign. The Democrats appeal to logic and reason, the GOP appeals to emotion. One thing is certain, that the GOP can get 50% of voters to side with them when their policies benefit the top 1% shows how incredibly poor of a job we do with our messaging.
You exactly right about the 50% of the vote. Sadly it doesnt take 51 % to get elected. It doesnt even take 55%. It only takes the higher number of electorial votes. Popular vote does not matter in many states. Nationwide the majority vote is trumped by electorial votes. That has to stop.
If you have seen the documentary on Current called the Two Americas. Portraying two families, one very wealthy and in the second family husband and wife have lost jobs and lost their home and are pawning things and borrowing money from mom just to pay a power bill. Now on Foodstamps and receiving unemployment. The poor family lives in Texas. When asked who they would support in the upcoming election they immediately and without hesitation immediately said republicans. The very party that wants to take those programs away from the poor. The husbands reply to this information was” someone will take care of us. Democrats are why we are in the position we are in” Republicans will protect Christians and make this country a moral and great place to live. It amazing the people that believe this with their heart and soul. No matter what the bible says, this is what God wants. My mind will never understand the contradiction and how they justify it. It makes no sense. Christianity in itself is a for profit industry today. The Christian bookstores the Christian materials bought and sold to millions of churches every year for studies, bible schools, daycares , printed material alone brings in 1.4 billion a year. The religion is just a smoke screen for the ones smart enough to munipulate the followers into spending, donating, and tithing. I can add tax free. If they paid taxes for all Christian related sales it would be an unimaginable amount of money.
So you follow a man who has never been vetted, wears a ring professing his faith in Islam and buddies up to the countries of the Muslam Brotherhood.. I sure am glad I gave 20 years of my life to this country so you can spout off about how you feel yet others are misinformed if their facts don’t fit into your form!!!!! You think Bush gave us this debt/ Look further back my friend, into the 60s when we were in Vietnam, fighting a war we could not win. Sent their by two Dem. Presidents and brought home by a Rep President. We have had more Dem Presidents in recent history than Rep Presidents and yet it is always the Republicans who cause the problems. Campaign posters read well for you but you ought to try history books for once and find facts instead of slogans. Keep following this False President, see where he leads this nation, save jobs? He allowed Gm to move to China that saved a lot of jobs for the autoworkers didn’t it? He shut down all domestic oil drilling and all but one coal mine, that kept workers on the job didn’t it? Oh and that helped to keep gasoline and energy prices down too didn’t it? Go ahead re-elect Obama and see what is left of this once great country four years from now!
Well written. Great point. Republicans are a party of hypocrisy. One thing though; THERE IS NO GOD!!!!!!! The sooner people realize this the sooner your minds will be freed
You should take part in a contest for one of the best blogs on the web. I will recommend this site!
You haven’t explained what makes it morally permissible to use violence to enforce charity. Is that in the next article?
Wow. Do you mind if I forward this stuff to a friend of mine?
Feel free to share and spread anything on this blog that you like. There’s also a Facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Right-Off-A-Cliff/300857333265155
What the article did not mention is that many of the BOP no longer believe in Jesus Christ…even though they invoke His name. Their savior has been Ayn Rand. The worst part is they are not even ashamed to call upon her name as the basis for their Satanic beliefs.
Just read your articles….they are very well done….and you are right, trickle down doesn’t work, has never worked and will never work. The driver of our economy is Demand Sided….it’s like a house or any structure, if you don’t have a good solid foundation, no matter what you put on top of it, it is bound to collapse because what you are basing it on is not strong enough. Our country’s strength comes from the “Foundation” of a Strong and Prosperous Working Class, we are the very Foundation on which the health of this country is based. If you look at history and when the working class was strong, you will see that is when this country was strong and the economy was growing for real, it wasn’t smoke and mirrors like many of the bubbles we have recently seen, it was based on producing real things. We were strong, we took care of each other and moved forward even when we didn’t know how we were going to do it. When JFK set the goal of going to the moon, the technology wasn’t there yet, but we moved forward. The goal today needs to revive our economy by making it better, cleaner, renewable, we may not have all the technologies yet, but if the challenge was presented to the American people, they would make it happen! It is our people that is our wealth, not our corporations.
Great article, but I would like to correct one quote: “The LOVE OF money is the root of all evil.” This is often a misquoted Bible verse, however I think the actual quote proves what you said here even more powerfully.
“If this is going to be a Christian nation that doesn’t help the poor, either we have to pretend Jesus was just as selfish as we are, or we’ve got to acknowledge that He commanded us to love the poor and serve the needy without condition and then admit that we just don’t want to do it.”
Stephen Colbert
And I was going to make the same correction as Peter. The Bible sas that the LOVE of money is the root of all kinds of evil. GREAT POINT TO THE ARTICLE!
SO YOU THINK THE REPUBLICANS ARE THE FAULT: READ THIS ARTICLE FROM ONE OF THE SMARTEST MEN (AFRO-AMERICAN) ON THE PLANET.
Occupy Wall Street by Thomas Sowell
By Dr. Thomas Sowell
The current Occupy Wall Street movement is the best illustration to date of what President Barack Obama’s America looks like. It is an America where the lawless, unaccomplished, ignorant and incompetent rule. It is an America where those who have sacrificed nothing pillage and destroy the lives of those who have sacrificed greatly.
It is an America where history is rewritten to honor dictators, murderers and thieves. It is an America where violence, racism, hatred, class warfare and of murder are all promoted as acceptable means of overturning the American civil society.
It is an America where humans have been degraded to the level of animals: of defecating in public, having sex in public, devoid of basic hygiene. It is an America where the basic tenets of a civil society, including faith, family, a free press and individual rights, have been always rejected. It is an America where our founding documents have been now shredded and, with them, every person’s guaranteed liberties.
It is an America where, ultimately, great suffering will come to the American people, but the rulers like Obama, Michelle Obama, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Joe Biden, Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, liberal college professors, union bosses and all other loyal liberal/Communist Party members will live in opulent splendor.
It is the America that Obama and the Democrat Party have now created with all the willing assistance of the American media, Hollywood , unions, universities, the Communist Party of America, the Black Panthers and numerous anti-American foreign entities.
Barack Obama has brought more destruction upon this country in three years than any other event in the history of our nation, but it is just the beginning of what he and his comrades are capable of.
The Occupy Wall Street movement is just another step in their plan for the annihilation of America .
“Socialism, in general, has a record of failure that’s so blatant that only an intellectual could ignore or evade it.”
Dr. Thomas Sowell (A National Humanities Medal Winner)
– The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are out numbered by the people that vote for a living.
.HAVE A GREAT ELECTION DAY
After reading that, the conclusion I come to is that either Sowell is not as bright as claimed, or he’s been bought off. That rant is pure unadulterated BULL$#!T.
Thank you so much for answering the question I posed to you after reading one of your other blogposts. I really don’t understand the so-called Christian Right. These people have no Christ in their hearts but demand that we leave “Christ in Christmas” and religious texts on government buildings. They also demand that Christianity be taught in our public schools. Really???? I thought religious teachings were for church and Sunday school. Public school is so children can learn to read, write and arithmetic. So what??? Are all public school teachers supposed to learn theology now??? So that our children can be taught the “creation myth”? All religions have a creation story…mine has about 200. Enough is enough and when the Republicans and the Christian Taliban finally realize they are really worshiping at the Altar of the Almighty Dollar, maybe this country will be a better place for all Americans. Until then, I’ll ask the Goddess to help this wonderful country.
I like what you guys are up also. Such smart work and reporting! Keep up the superb works guys I’ve incorporated you guys to my blogroll. I think it’ll improve the value of my web site
excellent article! republicans remind me alot of the kkk, who also tout themselves as being a christian organization. amazing, isn’t it?
Great article with some very good points that point out some truths if people are willing to open their eyes. Here is a link to an article that I think you may find very interesting and enlightening: http://www.biblicalfreedom.com/images/newnav/pdf/everyversestudies/GreedandOppressionofthePoor.pdf
I did not write the referenced article but it brings out some hard hitting points that need to be shared. If you have read the Bible and teachings of Jesus I think you naturally get the feeling that many of the ultra right wing ideology seems so incongruous with those teachings.
It is a fairly lengthy article that goes more indepth regarding not only who Jesus was but also what the Old (OT) and New Testaments (NT) say about how we are to treat each other, including the downtroden, and the obvious economic system we should strive for. Jesus was certainly apolitical but it is undeniable that the greed over people philosophy of the right wing today is not what Jesus would condone. Of course there are things that he would not condone on the left side either but I think their social and economic ideals are more in tune with his even though the execution is certainly imperfect for obvious reasons.
The above referenced article goes into more detail on this with some interesting and profound Biblical references.
I hope you find the “Greed and Oppression of the Poor” article aptly supplements your “Greed and Jesus: Republicans Just Don’t Get It” article and that it may even provide some enlightenment to others on this forum.
If capitalism only benefits the wealthy then how why is it the free market has brought more people out of poverty than any system in the history of the world?
Simple. Because up until the last 30 years employers had morals. They actually believed in supporting their workers and paying them a livable wage. That all changed with the introduction of trickle down economics. Suddenly it was all about getting more and more money. And the companies did get more and more money. However, instead of sharing it out to the workers, all the CEOs and management took all the excess for themselves in the form of wage increases, bonuses, company perks, etc. Republicans used to be a party that compromised. That is, until the Fire and Brimstone Christians got a hold of the party. They believe they are acting on the will of God, and the will of God is infallible according to them, therefore they refuse to compromise or admit any wrong doing. However, the have forgotten the true teachings of Christ, but most importantly, they have forgotten one major scripture. Matthew 18:18 states, “I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” Therefore, we need not worry about God damning us for allowing gay marriage or many other things. Because if we permit it here on earth, God will permit it in Heaven.
As a 25 year born-again Christian with extensive biblical study under my belt, I’ve got to tell you that you’ve got the wrong Jesus. Jesus was not just fully man, but also fully God, otherwise we would not worship him as deity. Christianity is not a religion, but an individual’s personal recognition that Jesus Christ was truly the promised Messiah who was prophesied to the Jewish people all throughout the Old Testament. Man broke his relationship with God when he chose to not trust or believe God. This distrust led him to be deceived and to disobey God’s instruction. The Messiah who was first foretold to us in Genesis, was to be none other than God himself who would come to earth to restore man’s broken relationship with God. How would God bring about that restoration?
A Christian understands from scripture that he or she is not perfect as God is perfect. This fact is demonstrated to us all by the 10 Commandments, for God says that if we break one just once, we’ve broken them all. The 10 commandments show us that we are nothing like God. We do not even begin to approach his perfection. The 10 Commandments are meant to humble us and show us that we all need God’s forgiveness. There is but one price to be paid for sin; death. We are all sinners and therefore guilty before God. There is no one who has never broken a commandment except for the God/man Jesus. For those who truly repent, and who freely receive Christ as their Lord (Master) and Savior, God is able to then legally transfer that person’s guilt to Christ who was perfect ,and to legally declare them innocent. There is no other way to be reconciled to God the Father but through Jesus, the Son, who declares that he is himself the door. Any good works that a Christian does are in gratefulness to a God who would personally get up off His throne, cloth Himself with flesh, live as one of us, and then willingly give up that life in order to set us free from God’s righteous judgment of our sin. Accepting Jesus as Lord and Savior is the only way God has provided for us to restore our broken relationship with God.
With that defined, Republicans are not for greed. Greed is sinful. It is about discerning and obtaining that which is a moral (vs. immoral) methodology regarding the way we as individuals take care of our poor. What do I mean by that? No where in the bible does Jesus demonstrate to us a collective model. He demonstrates a personal and individual model for us to follow with regards to meeting the legitimate needs of the poor. He said that we will always have the poor among us, there will always be differences in income. Never did he say that we should seek to level our economy by authorizing the government to steal from the producers to give to the non-producers. That is immoral. Yes, we are to love our neighbor as ourselves and to show mercy and compassion, but we are to use discernment when doing so. Government is incapable of applying the discernment that an individual can. This lack of discernment encourages dependence instead of independence. If we truly love someone, we will not encourage dependence because it destroys motivation and encourages immaturity.
Jesus modeled this to us with his own personal actions. He did not direct us to relinquish our individual responsibility before God to love our neighbor over to the federal government as a way to meet the needs of the poor. Our personal involvement with our needy neighbors is a command (not a suggestion) for us to all follow in our daily lives. An impersonal, immoral government who illegally confiscates (steals) tax monies (see Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution for the list of 17 legal uses of Federal Tax Monies) can never stand in the place of an individual as a moral steward. Jesus also added the qualifier that work is mandatory for anyone receiving assistance. If one does not work, one does not eat.
Being charitable is a personal, decisive action to be determine by the free individual. It is not a collective duty to be imposed and enforced by the government. That is not liberty nor is it freedom as our Founders understood it. It is tyranny. It enslaves one person to another by force, which is again: immoral.
Dr. Sowell was absolutely right when para-phasing the original observation that as soon as people find out that they can vote themselves goodies, the more they will want to be spoon-fed by the government. The rest of us are getting mighty sick of working long and hard, paying 25% and more in income taxes, only to be leeched off of those wanting their “entitlements”. The government is only too happy to aid and abet them in order to spend our hard earned money in order to buy votes from this crowd. They love to stir up hatred and jealousy in order to further their own careers and buy votes. The more people that they can keep reliant on the government for provision, the better their future careers look. Ultimately corporations (who are made up of people who work hard and take the risks) and individuals who work hard to achieve success will vote with their feet by leaving this country for greener pastures, as many have already done.
“Yes, we are to love our neighbor as ourselves and to show mercy and compassion, but we are to use discernment when doing so.”
So what you are saying is that we are to help people, but not everyone because, well, we dont really have to. We can pick and choose who gets help and we can decide whether or not someone gets the food/medical attention they may need in order to survive. Kinda sounds like you are offering up an excuse for a possible genocide. “We can give food to all the people in Kansas that need it, but let the Californians starve. Stupid Californians.” This brand of Christianity is exactly the kind of Christianity that we are saying is wrong. Help all, not select few. Period.
And your pure ignorance about the fact that people are only only looking for a handout is just that. Pure ignorance. Allow me to connect the dots for you: Republicans figure out that they are able to vote themselves goodies, except its not goodies in the form of 200-300 dollars a month in order to buy food for themselves or their children, we’re talking goodies in the fashion of millions of dollars worth of cheating/savings. They in turn refuse to raise wages proportionate to the rate of price increases and inflation, saving themselves just that much more money. Then they lay workers off, fire people, shut down entire companies, and ship those jobs over seas to gain that profit as well. The people are getting poorer and poorer. A family with 2 incomes now brings in an average of 40K-80K a year. 30 years ago, a single income family was bringing in the monetary equivalent of 95K. Where did that extra money go? Simple! The CEOs are eating it up with their dancing horses and their car elevators! So they pass more legislation and deregulate Wall Street. All of this swirls and twists into the oncoming storm of economic recession. The middle class can no longer afford the things they need because of the rich raising the prices to make more money, but not paying them more. This leads to more people in need of assistance because they simply cannot make enough to afford the things they need. This of course causes more people to receive food stamps and welfare, and you somehow have the nerve to call these people lazy? These are the people that elevated the rich which you are so highly speaking of! These are the people upon whose backs the entire economy rests! If you want a model of how less regulation and lower taxes for the wealthy will play out, look at the feudal system of medieval Europe! The working class, or peasants were disgustingly poor while the “nobles” were filthy rich! Where was the middle class? They didnt exist!
And this utter bull you have spewed forth into the world: “Being charitable is a personal, decisive action to be determine by the free individual. It is not a collective duty to be imposed and enforced by the government. That is not liberty nor is it freedom as our Founders understood it. It is tyranny. It enslaves one person to another by force, which is again: immoral.” That is just DISGUSTING, SELF CENTERED, EGOTISTICAL, PATHETIC GREED. There is NO getting around that. There is NO changing that. It is an undeniable fact. Say what you want, but some day when you need help I hope people look at you and laugh. Because according to your own philosophy, they dont have to help you.
I sit and listen to them and cannot believe how utterly stupid and illogical they are. They say they are against abortion however they are also against welfare and food stamps so they want you to have the children they just don’t want to feed them after they are here. Now that is Christianity! Keep taking from the middle class so you can hide your Billions in the Cayman Islands and Swiss Banks! Then if anyone asks you how much money you made last year just tell them I don’t know I have a blind trust that handles my money! Ok so I guess you did not look at the tax return before you signed it? How can people vote for Romney it just is incomprehensible to me.
Well if Obama was able to do all the things Sowell stated in his article he must not have slept for the whole 3 years. Frankly, If both parties would stop fighting like 2 year olds and the republicans did not block his every move, maybe he could have accomplished a lot more. The things in that article are just unbelievable and it seems to me the person who wrote it has an enormous amount of hate in his heart. No one president could possibly be responsible for all of that in 3 years. As far as the occupy wallstreet movement, it is an American right to protest what someone does not believe in and if people have to urinate and deficate in public to make people notice them and listen to what they have to say then so be it. We are all Americans and we have a right to try and change what we think is wrong with this country and I hope and pray that we will again show the people of this country that we still have the courage and the kahoonas to put the wealthy non paying taxpayers back in their place. The middle class workers are the ones who keep this country running not the wealthy and if they paid their share of the taxes how come they just keep getting richer and richer? you obvioulsy have been brainwashed or lobotomized.
to Cheryl Hack, you are not the only one who has read the bible. The problem is everyone reads it and come up with their own conclusion! One thing no one can deny is; God put limitation on human when he said do`t eat the fruit of this tree, and he soon found out limitation and free will can`t work side by side. So, he told them to go live the way you want, and if you wanna get back here, here`s how. so if it`s up to humans to choose their path who are we to tell them how to live. The Jesus that i know says, LOVE THY NEIGHBOR. But people like you have turned that upside down and think he said LOVE THY NEIGHBOR IF HE OR SHE IS LIKE YOURSELF……
