Looking for a Hypocrite? Just Take a Right

Roe v. Wade is the landmark case where our Supreme Court said it is within a woman’s Constitutionally protected right to have an abortion.

This isn’t an ideological debate on a bill.  This has been upheld and defined by our Supreme Court as a CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED RIGHT.

Do many Republicans disagree with this ruling?  Yup.

But guess what, we didn’t see many conservatives (most of the same ones who oppose ANY gun regulation, because it violates a right) objecting to the passing of legislation all across our country which requires a mandatory transvaginal probe into a woman’s body AGAINST HER WILL before she exercises her CONSTITUTIONALLY PROTECTED RIGHT.

Why?  Because THEY don’t think abortion should be legal.  Not that they dispute that Roe v. Wade stated, per our Supreme Court, that abortions ARE Constitutionally protected–no, THEY just don’t feel they should be legal.  Therefore, many Republicans feel it’s acceptable for those rights to be violated.

I’m not even covering the legislation that’s been passed in many Republican states that forces closures of health clinics that happen to provide abortion or, like here in Texas, require women to receive ultrasounds by their doctors before having an abortion.

See, this is why you people are hypocrites and I can’t take most you seriously.  You never have any issues if Constitutionally protected rights of which you disagree are violated. It’s only when the rights YOU agree with might be regulated, THEN you throw a shit fit like people who would never think of violating a single Constitutional right in any way–except those of which you disagree.

And then the KICKER to our Second Amendment is the opposition by many to any regulations, even though well regulated is written in the damn Second Amendment.

So please, spare me this holier-than-thou stance on our Second Amendment when it comes to sensible gun regulation (ban on automatic weapons, ban on high-capacity magazines, universal background checks–none of which take away 98% of your guns).  Especially when your party often proves it has no issues violating Constitutionally protected rights, just as long as the rights being violated are those of which Republicans disagree.

The Republican Fiscally Conservative Delusion

It’s ironic to see all these Republicans whine and complain about Obama’s deficits, when a lot of that money is comprised of:

  • Spending approved by Bush in 2008 (see money we spend for the current year gets approved the previous year, so 2009′s deficits were actually passed by Bush)
  • Two wars that weren’t fully on our books, thanks to Bush pushing most of their cost towards the back end of his 2nd term

See, the wars Bush started didn’t magically stop the day Obama took office…they still had to be funded.

Then for those who say Obama hasn’t passed a budget, here’s a fun fact: Congress creates budgets, not Presidents.  Obama hasn’t been given a budget on his desk to sign.  This is due in large part to Republicans in Congress trying to sabotage his Presidency with ridiculous ”compromises”  of which equate more to hostage negotiations rather than true political compromise.  Just look at how they handed the increase to our debt ceiling, something they almost unanimously voted in support of under Bush yet opposed under Obama.

Oh and for the record had McCain won, he wouldn’t have ended either war.  So spending in countries like Iraq would have been HIGHER, not lower.  So complain about the stimulus all you want, we would have likely spent more than that under McCain in Iraq and Afghanistan with his refusal to pull out of either country.

I won’t even get into what action he might have taken against Iran, or how he wanted even more involvement in countries like Libya, Syria and Egypt which would have increased spending as well.

And stop with this, “Obamacare is a huge spending bill!”  The non-partisan CBO (which Republicans often source when it supports their side) have said in the long-term the Affordable Care Act reduces deficits, it doesn’t increase them.

So ask yourselves, how is it possible our government has spent as much as they have the last 4 years yet spending increases under Obama are at their lowest levels in decades?  It’s simple.  The spending before Obama took office was already at such high levels that his spending is essentially the same when compared to that of which he inherited—from George W. Bush.

You remember Bush, right?  The guy who doubled our national debt and supported increases to our debt ceiling multiple times.  The guy who passed three different stimulus bills, trillion dollar Medicare legislation and the TARP bailout of Wall Street.  The guy who was in office when we saw record high oil and gas prices.  The guy who passed the Patriot Act.

You small government, fiscally conservative Republicans surely remember him—you voted for him twice.

In fact many of the same Congressional Republicans who refuse to do anything in Congress now, harping on big government spending when it comes to legislation like Obama’s jobs bill, were the very same people who supported all that spending and debt ceiling increases while Bush was in office.

Republicans should know them as well, after all…they voted for them too.

From Balanced Budgets to Record Deficits

The belief as to what’s responsible for our ever increasing national debt is a hot political topic between Democrats and Republicans.  However, the answer to this question shouldn’t be partisan…in fact it’s pretty simple.

What killed our balanced budget?  Tax cuts and 2 unfunded wars.

What are the main causes for much of our national debt these past 12 years?  Tax cuts, 2 wars, stimulus packages and bailouts.

Why did we have to pass the TARP bailout of Wall Street?  Deregulation of Wall Street that allowed massive corruption to sink our financial sector.

Why did we have to pass the stimulus bill in 2008 (rebate checks) under Bush?  Because of an economy that was beginning to crumble due to the corruption on Wall Street that was triggered by that deregulation.

Why did we pass the 2009 stimulus under Obama?  To attempt to keep this country from spinning into another Great Depression and to slow down the rate of jobs losses that had reached well over 800K per month as President Obama came into office.

So we have the main causes for our national debt being: 2 wars that were never paid for, massive tax cuts, deregulation on Wall Street that triggered 2 stimulus bills and a TARP bailout…just to name a few of the main issues.

So what’s Mitt Romney’s plan for our future if he were to be elected President?  A probable war with Iran, more tax cuts and further deregulation of Wall Street.

As the saying goes, “those who cannot not learn from history are doomed to repeat it”.

When Republicans talk about “taking America back”, it seems that’s exactly what they want to do…right back to the Bush years and another giant economic collapse with a skyrocketing national debt.

Mitt Romney Would Lower Gas Prices

In 2008 oil spiked to a record high of $147, causing gas prices to hit a high somewhere around $4.20 a gallon nationally.

Republicans….this was while George W. Bush was President, not Barack Obama.

Between July 2008 and January 2009 Bush didn’t do a single thing to lower the price of oil or gas…yet prices fell by more than 60%.

So, what did happen to cause such a sharp decline?  Oh that’s right, our economy collapsed.

That’s why oil prices were lower when Bush left office.  It wasn’t because of his brilliant energy policies, it was because after 8 years of his terrible economic policies our economy was on the brink of complete collapse.

If you had watched the stock market daily over the last 4 years, around 90% of the time when the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DOJA) had a day where it fell over 100 points, the price of oil declined.  Then on days where the Dow Jones Industrial Average had an increase of more than 100 points, the price of oil almost always increased.

Over the last 6+ years the main cause for the fluctuation of oil prices hasn’t been the energy policies by any sitting President, it’s been their economic policies—that and out of control oil speculation on Wall Street.

With our economy on the brink of total collapse in late 2008, Republicans are right…oil and gas prices did in fact fall.  However, with improved economic stability over the last 4 years the price of oil and gas has increased.  This isn’t complicated.  It’s actually pretty simple if you just step back, stop watching Fox News and actually think for yourself.

So in reality when Republicans brag about lower gas prices under Bush, all they’re doing is admitting he failed as a President and nearly destroyed our economy.  Then when they complain about higher prices under Obama, they’re actually admitting our economy has improved since he’s taken office.

So as President Obama stated, of course Romney can bring down our gas prices.  He plans to implement the same economic policies that crashed our economy and, as they did during that 2008 collapse, oil and gas prices would almost certainly trend downward, right behind a sinking stock market and a failing economy….just as they did under George W. Bush.

President Obama: The Most Powerful Man Who’s Ever Lived

Of course President Obama fixed the September jobs numbers.  He is the most powerful man who’s ever lived….or didn’t you know?

Who cares if he has no administrative control over anyone who serves at the Bureau of Labor Statistics or the fact that these people are the same group responsible for reporting the job losses Republicans have saddled him with for 4 years.

There’s no question his power was behind this report.

Not just that, he successfully coordinated with tens of thousands of Democratic voters across the country to falsely report to the Bureau of Labor Statistics that they’ve recently become employed.  He’s rigging the election I tell ya!

Let’s just think for a moment the power this man has.  He’s successfully:

  • Created a fake birth announcement in 1961
  • Faked 2 different forms of his birth certificate–then got the Hawaii government to support his illegitimacy
  • Created our recession a full year before he ever even took office
  • Lived under a fake identity well into his 30′s
  • Started the Muslim Brotherhood…then staged their uprising in the Middle Eastern revolts
  • Is a radical Christian, Muslim, Socialist, Fascist, Communist…all at the same time
  • Will take away our guns, even though he’s never made any attempt thus far to do so…but that’s a part of his plan
  • Manufactured a fake education from Columbia and Harvard
  • Faked the death of Osama Bin Laden..then managed to get the military commanders to go along with his ruse
  • Controlled the media as to manipulate the American people into thinking that Mitt Romney is a babbling idiot

These are just a few of the events he’s managed to accomplish the last few years.  So of course he has the power to concoct fake employment numbers.  In fact–his whole plan for the last 4 years was to produce numbers that showed a slower than expected recovery just so that in the last few months our jobs numbers would paint him as a hero.  Those who say, “If he had this kind of power over employment numbers why didn’t he manipulate them higher his whole time in office?”— you people are just idiots.

This WAS his plan.  Don’t you people know that a 7.8% unemployment, with a late rally before the election, is much better than 6% unemployment showing a much quicker pace of an economic recovery?  People who believe 6% is better than 7.8% must be listening to the lamestream media.  Don’t you know 7.8 is bigger than 6?  Bigger is better…..duh!

So with President Obama being the most powerful man who has ever lived….of course he manipulated these employment numbers…

And it’s not insane, irrational or illogical at all to believe this.

Rope-A-Dope: The Romney Edition

After the first Presidential debate right-wing voters are gushing all over themselves because Romney..

Looked strong?  No, not really.

Because he really nailed Obama on key issues?  No, didn’t do that either.

Because he laid out a clear vision for our country under his leadership?  Nope, never gave specific details on much of anything.

You know why they’re gushing–because he managed to go 90 minutes on live television without looking like a complete moron.  He didn’t say anything that made him seem like a competent leader with a clear vision for our country’s future.

But let’s prove this.  Republicans–if he did such a great job please answer for me:

What tax deductions does he plan to close?

What plan will he use to replace the Affordable Care Act?

If Medicare is such a bad program, why does he want to keep it the same for current (or soon to be) retirees?  If it’s such terrible health coverage why are those who currently receive these benefits strongly opposed to any changes to the program?

How does he plan to maintain tax revenue by just closing deductions?  Especially when you look at the numbers that say even if you closed every single deduction we have for the wealthy it wouldn’t equal the amount of revenue we’d lose with his continuation of Bush’s policies.  Only this time the tax breaks would be even larger than the Bush tax breaks…which added trillions to our national debt.

Oh..that’s right!  His plan assumes 3% growth, every single year, just like George W. Bush’s plan.  How many years did we see 3% growth under Bush?  A whooping 2 of his 8 years.  This plan promotes a hypothetical number that if we don’t hit 3% growth every single year it will mean we’ll either have to raise taxes or our national debt will continue to grow.

What government subsides, besides that deficit killer given to PBS, will he get rid of?

How does he plan to make America more energy independent when simply drilling more won’t do anything to lower the global price of oil?  More domestic drilling just gives oil companies more to sell on the global market (to the highest bidder) just as they do now.

Unless of course Romney is calling for more domestic drilling with a simultaneous nationalization of our oil supply.  I however doubt that’s what he’d do so in reality this pathetic “Drill Baby Drill!” bullshit is just that…complete bullshit.  It’s fed to those who have no idea how oil is traded globally or how its price is set.

He said last night he likes regulation (except all he’s talked about, up until that moment, his entire campaign is how regulation kills job growth) and would repeal Dodd-Frank.  So can you tell us which regulations he likes and would keep?

Can you, Republican voters, answer any of these?  No?  Oh that’s right…

Because he’s yet to offer a detailed explanation for any of these questions during his campaign and he sure as hell didn’t answer them last night.

But what did President Obama do?  Well…not much.  Only he actually did.  He gave this debate to Romney.  He let him spout off lie after lie, flip-flop after flip-flop.  He let him play his hand early while sitting back allowing Romney to dig his own hole.

It’s called rope-a-dope.  See Romney flip-flops on so many issues, seemingly at will, that it was impossible to really know publicly where Romney would make his final stand on key points.  It’s hard to counter a man who’s anti-regulation one minute and pro-regulation the next.  Who pushes a tax plan for 18 months only to say that if his plan were to call for an increase to our deficit, which almost every tax expert says it will, that he won’t pass it.

So President Obama let Romney fire away.  He didn’t bring up the 47% comment, the ER health care comment, his tax returns, offshore accounts, his record of outsourcing jobs, his stance on letting Detroit go bankrupt, his blunders on foreign policy….he didn’t need to.  He needed to know where Romney’s final stance on issues would be and he got just that.

See..in a fight it isn’t about who wins the first round.  Often underdogs, or weaker opponents, come out initially strong–confident.  They’re out there to show that they can win.  The favorite, or stronger competitor, often just sits back…letting them burn themselves out.  That’s exactly what Obama did.  Romney came out swinging while Obama sat back and took the blows.

Now Romney’s dug himself into a hole.  He played the best possible hand he could and even then it wasn’t that great.  He just didn’t embarrass himself.  That’s how pathetic he is.  A victory for this man wasn’t landing a big blow, making a great point or obliterating his opponent…it was just not making a fool of himself on national television.

Hell, even towards the end you saw the wheels coming off when he said we’re a nation of people under one God.  What the hell does that even mean?  I’m a Christian and at no time have I read about the need to wear magical underpants or have I been told of some fake planet named Kolob.  Then let’s not forget there are millions of non-Christian Americans of which he completely dismissed their personal beliefs with this comment.

Remember it isn’t who wins the first round, it’s who wins the last.  If Romney gets crushed in the next 2 debates no one will remember a thing he said on October 3, 2012.  President Obama knows this.  He knew Romney would come out lying, flip-flopping and exaggerating on the issues.  He knew the first debate would be the best Romney had to offer.

So now that Romney has made his stand (which fact checking groups have been shredding since the debate ended).  He can no longer treat his campaign like an Etch A Sketch.  He’s made his case and now it’s President Obama’s turn.

Come debate #2….just wait, President Obama is going to annihilate this flip-flopping clown.

The Romney B.S. Express

Tonight Romney did exactly what he’s done his whole campaign…simply said what he felt people listening to him wanted to hear.

NOT ONCE since he started his Presidential bid has he said he supports regulation.  Oh but here he was tonight saying it’s necessary…you know why?

Because that’s what the majority of voters want to hear.  Not to the hardcore right-wing of which he’s been selling out to for the last 18 months but to the moderates that do support regulation.

Pre-existing conditions…of course!  Kids able to stay on their parents insurance till 26?  Sure!  Oh but he’s going to repeal the Affordable Care Act…he just won’t tell you what he’ll replace it with.  You know why? Because he’ll replace it with the SAME DAMN BILL.

Oh you current seniors, you’ll keep your benefits…congrats!  Vote for him!  Everyone else….you’re fucked, here’s your voucher.  It’s alright though…Medicare is awful right?  Seniors strongly support sweeping changes to their coverage…oh wait, they don’t?  Then maybe these hypocrites shouldn’t support politicians that want to ruin these programs for future generations. If you enjoy them maybe we will as well.

He says you can’t balance the budget and grow our economy with higher taxes, except….we did.  Just ask President Clinton or look to President Eisenhower…you know the last Republican President to actually do both.

He points to the elimination of subsidies as a method he’ll use to balance our budget by cutting money for programs such as…..PBS.  And that’s a good thing because we damn sure know that the money we give to PBS is the real cause for our national debt—not the bloated defense budget (which he’ll grow), the wars (which he’ll start more of) or the tax breaks which we never paid for (and he’ll give more of).

It was those bastards at PBS.

Then there’s the part towards the end where he said we’re a nation of people under one God…really?  He’s a Mormon.  His views on Christianity and the planet Kolob don’t seem to be in any of my Christian literature.  But he’s right…let’s completely ignore the beliefs and values of millions of non-Christians in this country.  Hell you non-Christians need not worry, when you die you’ll just get posthumously baptized and you’ll be “saved” whether you like it or not.

Or hey….we could always just point out the fact that he didn’t offer a single detail for ANYTHING he planned to accomplish.  Instead he used the same tired excuse that for him to explain to everyone his plan for America it would simply take too long.

The only reason he seemed strong during this debate are the low expectations most had for him. He lied, flip-flopped and completely avoided any details of his vision for our country…but he didn’t make a complete ass out of himself so…

HE WON!

Talk about pathetic standards.  Simply not embarrassing yourself on national television shouldn’t be the basis for your side declaring victory.

Voter ID Laws: The 2012 Poll Tax

Don’t tell me Voter ID laws aren’t a 2012 version of a poll tax and a way for Republicans to disenfranchise voters they wished wouldn’t vote.

If I’m wrong why are there such strong efforts to pass these laws, in Republican controlled states, for an issue that ….hasn’t been an issue.  In fact according to the National Republican Lawyers Association there have been less than .7 cases of suspected voter fraud….per state…per year….over the last decadein the entire country.  In most of these cases the “fraud” was using the wrong address or fake names on petitions.  No where, in any state, has there been even a single case where voter fraud threatened the results of any election….not once.

Hell Pennsylvania state openly admitted on their court docket it could find no proof of voter fraud being committed within the state and in fact went on to say that they have no evidence that voter fraud would occur in the absence of their voter ID laws this November.  So if they have no evidence of voter fraud occurring, or that it would occur, why are they spending millions to pass these laws?

Oh that’s right, because it has nothing at all to do with voter fraud….nothing.

This issue is only meant to make voting more difficult for people.  It’s essentially charging people for their right to vote, making the voting process so frustrating that they simply won’t bother trying or creating circumstances where people who have a valid ID can be denied their right to vote if there’s suspicion they might not be the person on their ID.

If that’s not the case please show me a state where a proper ID is free. Then if the ID is free, what requirements does a person need to obtain the ID?  Birth certificate?  Are those free?  Does the government provide free transportation for citizens to these locations to obtain both their birth certificate and their ID?  Are Republicans advocating spending more tax payer money to provide people with free ID’s, birth certificates and transportation to these locations?  I thought they were about being fiscally conservative?  Why spend millions combating an issue that doesn’t even produce one solid case per year, per state?  That doesn’t seem very fiscally conservative to me but then again Republicans only use the “fiscally conservative” moniker to manipulate voters, they’re anything but fiscally conservative.

So is this just about a picture ID?  If so what if someone gets their ID but it gets lost in the mail?  What if someone is robbed before the election and their ID is stolen?  What if someone gets their ID but it doesn’t come in time for them to vote?  What if someone simply loses their wallet/purse right before the election?  Are there not millions of people with fake ID’s already? What if someone doesn’t quite look like their picture, could they then be denied their right to vote?  What if their ID expired and they simply weren’t aware are they then denied their right?  What if they simply forget to purchase an ID in time because they’re working 2 jobs, have kids and just lost track of time…are they denied their right as well?  What if they show up to vote with an ID, but have been wrongfully purged off the voters registration sheet due to voter purging measures taken by many of these states, are they then not allowed to vote?

So what we have are these Republican controlled “fiscally conservative” states where they’ve been laying off teachers, fire fighters and police officers due to a lack of funds, and have massive state deficits, spending MILLIONS of tax payer dollars to combat an issue that isn’t an issue….ANYWHERE.  That’s kind of like using Marines special forces to deter reported cases of the bigfoot attacks…which are probably more common than actual voter fraud.

You see this has nothing to do with preventing a pathetic .7 cases per state, per year, over the last decade and everything to do with a party trying to disenfranchise (or frustrate) voters they wished wouldn’t vote from voting.

Student Loan Interest Rates: This Shouldn’t Be An Issue

It’s funny many harp on President Obama for being just as bad as Republicans when it comes to selling out to big Wall Street banks…yet here he is urging Congress to pass legislation preventing student loan interest rates from doubling.

Now lets use logic here and think about this for a second:

-A higher interest rate would mean increased revenue for many banks, yet Obama is trying to prevent this rate hike.

Logic would dictate that if he was bought and paid for by big Wall Street banks he’d simply let the interest rates double, providing a giant boost in profits for those financial institutions.  Of course for people who understand how our government works they realize President Obama really has no power to make legislation.  So that’s up to Congress…

OH wait today the House did pass a bill that would prevent the interest rate increase…if Democrats in the Senate, and the President, allow massive cuts to the Affordable Care Act.

So who’s really trying to help the American people and who’s trying to hold their well-being  hostage:

-The President who wants the interest rates to remain the same, while vowing to veto any cuts towards health care.

-The Republican controlled House who will only pass the continuation of lower interest rates if the President cuts funding for health care.

Why is it when it comes to tax cuts, or breaks, for the wealthy Republicans have no problem passing those without any stipulations but just as they did with the payroll tax cut, FEMA disaster funding and now student loan interest rates they’ll only pass that legislation if it benefits their own special interest.

Lets think about this for a moment:

Republicans claim tax hikes for the rich are unconstitutional, un-American and “job killers” but it’s perfectly acceptable to hesitate on allowing a middle class tax cut to expire, battling to withhold disaster relief until they get a reduction in funding for the EPA or Planned Parenthood and now they’ll only pass legislation preventing an interest rate hike on millions of Americans if they get cuts on health care.

Who’s waging class warfare again?

Oh and for the record…the budget the Republican led House recently passed called for the increase in student loan interest rates.  It’s only after intense public pressure from the American people that Republicans in the House began to address the doubling of student loan rates and considered legislation to prevent it from happening.  Just as with the payroll tax cut and FEMA disaster relief their initial plan was that of what benefited their agenda more than our nations citizens.  It’s only after the American people voiced their anger that Republicans took notice, finally acting on legislation that helps average Americans.  However as with most of their legislation they’re still attempting to push their own partisan agendas while providing that assistance.

It’s simply pathetic.  When will Republicans learn waving a flag and yelling you love America doesn’t do you a damn bit of good if nearly every piece of legislation you pass shows just how much you really couldn’t care less about 99% of Americans.

Our Talk With Ignorance

We apologize for any grammar issues or punctuation.  This is a real conversation we had with someone on our comment board.  Not edited nor changed in any way.  We couldn’t prove ignorance or a general sense of the Republican mind set any better than this.  Enjoy!

Him:  Gays have all the rights they’re going to get. They do not deserve anything more than what WE already give them

Right Off A Cliff :  does that give gays the right to determine what rights you deserve?

Him:  Not at all. The gays have all the rights that are guaranteed under the Constitution. Anything else falls under the 10th Amendment and must be determined as a privilege given by the States/people. i.e. marriage and driving are privileges not rights.

Right Off A Cliff:   That still does not give a state the right to violate the Constitution. The stance against same-sex marriage is religion based and the first part of the Bill of Rights states the freedom OF religion, which can also mean the freedom from religion.

As our country is not based on the Christian religion any laws put forth set upon them is a direct violation of this.

Right Off A Cliff:   Oh, and until very recently federally they were denied the right to serve in our military, which is not a state issue.

Him:  Actually not everyone who’s against gay marriage has a religious reason behind it. Also, there’s no violation of the 1st Amendment since the Federal Government isn’t attempting to establish a national religion. The states have the right to declare a State religion and many of them have. i.e. the Bible Belt.

The US is based on Christianity. Always has been. The Pilgrims were Christians, majority of the Founding Families were Christians, majority of Americans have been Christian until the 1980′s. (Give or take a handful of years). Many of our laws and moral fabric of America is based on the 10 commandments. i.e. Murder is illegal; Thou shalt not kill.

Also, many religions and cultures do not tolerate gays. Christians are just the ones who aren’t scared to voice their opinions on the matter. They’re also the ones who get demonized for practicing their 1st Amendment rights.

Him:  I agree with DADT. It benefited the gays as well as the straights. It protected the gays from harassment. It didn’t keep them from serving. It just kept them quite about their sexuality. Which in many cultures, including the USA until this recent forced tolerance, is an abomination and goes against the norm.

Right Off A Cliff :  you’re missing the point. A state can not violate federal laws. It can not legally pass a state religion and if it can it’s symbolic and can not be enforced upon its people. Just as say Texas can not declare Baptist its state religion than ban alcohol consumption. We don’t see where this is hard to understand.

No, it is not based on the Christian religion. The Treaty of Tripoli is a prime example to where our 2nd President of the United States, and a Founding Father, directly states “In no way is the United States of American founding on the Christian religion”. Just because the PEOPLE are doesn’t mean the government is.

Now you’re arguing what most humans see as decent. Murder is seen as wrong by nearly everyone regardless of if they have faith or not. And while some laws are based upon Christian (or other faiths ideas, since Muslims believe murder is bad as well are we based upon their faith as well?)

You’re reaching…badly. The one thing you fail to understand is reality. Numerous quotes from our Founding Fathers stating this nation is not based on the Christian religions and the VERY simple fact to understand that no state can pass laws that violate the federal Constitution or Bill of Rights.

Just as a state can’t ban abortion, that’s federally protected. It can’t require its citizens to be Baptist, that’s a violation. It can’t ban guns (if it’s a liberal state) that’s protected. Just because the 10th Amendment states that each state has certain rights does NOT mean that those states can violate the Constitution. Segregation taught us that.

It’s shocking how people like you can’t understand that.

By your “logic” a state can do anything they want. Well if that’s the case let’s go ahead here in Texas create a Texas section of the Baptist religion, pass a bunch of laws in its faith and force its citizens to follow them and they’ll be happy right?

Oh wait, they can’t…because states rights do NOT include the right to violate the Constitution.

Here’s a simple formula to understand:

Constitutionally and Federally protected rights > States rights

Not greater than or equal. Not less than. GREATER THAN. A state can pass whatever law it wants but if it violates our Constitution it isn’t legal.

Him:  You’re missing the point that there is NO federal law being violated by any state. The state’s actually upholding the 10th Amendment which is a Constitutional law and those trump any federal law. The state religions aren’t forced on anyone and never would be since it’s Christianity. We don’t force conversations anymore. Unlike some religions, but a thread for a different time.

The People is the Government. That’s the greatness of living in a Republic. No matter how many times the founding fathers mentioned that. It doesn’t change the fact that when the majority of Americans are of a similar mindset, the Government is to uphold that mindset. The majority of Americans have been Christians since day one. We allow other religions to practice here as long as they do not attack our main religion. When Presidents spoke of God, it was understood they spoke of the Christian God.

You’re missing the point of the 10th Amendment.  There are things that are protected, thank God for the Constitution, there are also things that are not spoken of in the Constitution. Those things fall to the people and the states to decide for their own state. A state can not do anything it wants, you’re completely missing what is being said. States and Americans are GREATER then the feds. The Feds work for us and do as we tell them. Never visa versa; that’s the greatness of the balancing act of sovereignty in the USA. Each legal American is Sovereign over both the States and the Feds. The States are equal to the Feds in power. Any power not already declared to the feds, falls to the states and people to decide and enforce. The Feds are Sovereign from any other nation and are to protect the States and people from invasion or attack of any form. WE are the Kings and Queens, not the Feds.

Right Off A Cliff : You just don’t get it. States rights are not limitless. They ARE violating federal laws. Just as during segregation states tried to argue they had states rights, same during the Civil War, but you can not have a state right that violates the Constitution.

Not allowing same-sex marriage is mostly a faith-based issue. Of course you can find people who don’t believe in God that are against it, we can find people with 6 toes, doesn’t mean that’s the norm.

And just because people share a similar faith does not mean the government is allowed to pass rules taken FROM that faith. Something again you don’t understand.

If it was “understood” why didn’t they just say “Christian God”? Why didn’t they just flat-out put “The United States of America, a Christian nation”? Seriously people like you have such a weak argument.

You assume what the Founding Fathers meant on religion, yet when it comes to the 2nd Amendment you assume they’d be ok with AK-47′s and automatic weapons when at the time of writing it…it’s probably safe to ASSUME they never imagined more than a single shot rifle and pistol. But hey, that would require too much logic right?

And again, ignore the documented quotes such as the Treaty of Tripoli that directly state “in on ways is the United States founding on the Christian religion” …said BY a Founding Father.

And while the fed may work for us WE can not violate federal laws.

Bottom line…the Constitution does not state..ANYWHERE we are based upon a Christian faith, you assume it, despite the fact there are quotes from the men who created the document stating we are not.

You miss the point that states have certain rights but those rights can not violate federally protected rights.

Him:  Just as before the Civil war the States are being attacked and their sovereignty threatened. The states were not then and are not now violating any part of the Constitution.

You obviously know nothing of how our laws came to be. All of American laws have been influenced by Christianity.

I do trust that they would be okay with automatic weapons that’s why I plan on buying as many as possible. I already have a nice collection started of semi-autos. Just like any other part of the Bill of Rights, the second Amendment is limitless and inalienable.

Just because one founding father thought that way doesn’t mean he was in the majority. The majority of Americans have always been Christian. That’s why our laws are all based on Christian morals.

We can change those federal laws though. We can repeal those laws as well. Just because they’re federal laws does not mean that WE can not overturn them.

Right Off A Cliff : We’re done. You..just don’t get it. When we tell someone “here’s a quote directly from a Founding Father stating our country is in no way based on the Christian religion” and they continue to argue that point..you’re simply to dense to reach.

Oh so wait…when it comes to Christianity, which they never ONCE..not even once included a line that stated we are a Christian nation you ASSUME they meant that. But when it directly states something about guns, again you assume that they simply meant all guns, because by your logic if they wanted to limit certain guns they would have just said that…right?

And wow you really don’t get what a federal law is. The Constitution, a federal document supersedes ALL laws. Thank you though for this debate we can use it as a great example of the cult like mentality of some.

But we’re done…you’re too far gone to understand the basics, or the giant hypocrisy of your statements…such as why have the Constitution in the first place if the 10th Amendment means a state can do anything they want? People without any sense of logic are amazing.
